Perky Duck Software For Mac
After first failing to find a free six key entry program for the Macintosh to perform the tasks required by the training program, I purchased “Braille Writer Student” for around $6.00, and it is a fine program. However, it does not have the ability to create.brf files, and that format is required for homework submission. The training program suggested Perky Duck as the software to use for competing assignments, but I had already seen many people asking for a Macintosh compatible version of the software without success. Some people had suggested an emulator, but my system did not have enough resources to run a full emulator, and I did not want to purchase a license for Windows to run this one program.
Perky Duck For Mac
So I decided to try the lower resource requiring (and free) WINE software package. Wine is a program that allows Windows applications to be run on other operating systems (like Mac OS). By testing on another machine with more resources, I found that Perky Duck 11.2 (the latest version) also did not allow me to do six key entry in a commercial emulator (Parallels) running Windows 10. I decided to see if an older version of Perky Duck might work better for my simple needs, as the release notes on 11.2 talked about there being a lot of enhancements to support Windows 7 and 8. That made me concerned that the application might be tuned so much, that the software I was using confusing it. I found version 10.5 of Perky Duck, and to my relief, it worked exactly as I wanted it, and had the two features I needed (six key entry and.brf support).
